The Governor of Puerto Rico imposes the curfew for the coronavirus

The governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vázquez, decreed this Sunday a curfew throughout the island from 21-00 local time (01.00 GMT) and until five in the morning, as well as the partial closure of shops, to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

The measure will be in effect until March 30, he said in a televised message. According to health authorities, the island has four cases confirmed by COVID-19.

The last curfew, for which the population will not be able to leave their homes, which was decreed on the island, was the one imposed by ex-Governor Ricardo Rosselló in September 2017 following the passage of Hurricane Maria.

Direct speech

The sentence immedietely  repeats or quotes the exact words spoken. when using direct sentence in writing, we put the word spoken between (“”) and these words do not change. We can report something  happened at that time

Direct speech that is chaged to reported speech can be statement, imperative, ye/no question, information question.

Example for direct speech:

Reported speech

Reported speech is used to report/relay the words that have been delivered by others

Reported speech (or indirect speech) generally uses ‘say’  ‘tell’ and ‘ask’ as reporting verbs

Example for reported speech :

- She said that he went to jakarta

- She asked me where I would go

- He told me to close the window

Synopsis :
